Suzy Q's Glamorous Bohemian Home....

Hello everyone, how are you guys doing? It's totally feeling like Spring here in New York City, so excited for the lovely weather we're having this week!

Today, I'm bringing all of you a unique home with a ton of style! Who lives here?! Suzy Q who blogs over at the Better Decorating Bible.

Her style is total glamorous Bohemian - don't you think?? This girl is NOT scared or shy about mixing prints & patterns & somehow STILL making it look good! I also love the touches of GOLD throughout her place, including on the gorgeous DIY greek key dresser & the food dog!

What kind of gold paint you're wondering?!?

Well, she told me she used a spray paint by Krylon in Brilliant Gold which she bought at Walmart! Love it!! I think I need to buy that GOLD paint asap! Enjoy & thank you Suzy!

She also runs an online boutique with exclusive decorative pillows like the ones you see above! So pretty!

Courtney Love's NYC Townhouse...

Have you seen Courtney Love's NYC West Village townhouse on the Jane site?

I thought it was interesting but not my style at all. It is an insanely romantic feel to it & it's obvious she loves antique pieces. I thought the blue paint on the staircase walls was very PRETTY & calming...It's quite apparent there are no male influences in her home, it's VERY girly.

However, I found the whole vibe of the home to be a sad one... perhaps it's because I'm just not into the romantic-bohemian style..

What do you think?? you can see more of her home via Jane

Caycee's Home Tour...

Caycee Hewitt sent over some pics of her home & I thought it was really cute! I especially loved the baby's room, with the dark blue wall & yellow carpet!  Such pretty color combinations throughout her place don't you think?

You can also check out more of Caycee's home on her blog.

Caycee describes all her purchases below:

All of the lighting is from Overstock. All of the furniture in the guest bedroom was mine as a child and my husband and I painted it. the rug is that room is from West Elm found at West Elm

Baby boys beds were a Craigslist score and I just sanded and refinished them. The Dog Silhouette are from etsy found here

His bedding is PB and I just had it monogrammed. The rug in the laundry room is from Urban Outfitters.

Shelli's Holiday Decor Home Tour...

I have to admit, I haven't even bought a Holiday tree yet, somehow we just haven't had time. But I love looking at other people's homes and how they decorate for Christmas. In this post I'd like to introduce Shelli...some of you may know her from her blog A La Mode.

She has decided to share her Holiday home decor & I'm certain it'll inspire you to decorate your place this season! Perhaps it will get me to start decorating too...at least some Christmas lights if no tree....right?? I love her decor & how cozy looking is the dining area?!?  Beautiful set up!

Have you begun your Holiday decorating? Do you have a tree up yet??

Michaela's Bedroom Re-do....

Michaela Noelle a lifestyle blogger who recently re-did her bedroom has agreed to share it with us here at Made By Girl! It's a very girly looking room & from the looks of the before pics, she did a fantastic job!

She describes the whole process below in her own words...

Dresser: I found the dresser at a local consignment store, and upon purchasing, it just had plain green and blue drawers.  I new the shape was right for what I wanted to do with it, so I packed up the little kids dresser and began a major transformation. After measuring and taping out the chevron pattern, I painted it with the same grayish/lavender as the walls.  A few knew knobs were really the vintage-charm cherry on top .

Desk: I was so excited to find this desk and chair at the Fremont Market in Seattle. After talking to the man I bought it from, I learned both the desk and chair are actually old classic vintage finds he hunted down from an old consignment shop before refinishing them.  I love knowing the desk comes with lots of history!

I added some necessary desk supplies arranged in an Anthropologie mug, sitting on top of one of my favorite decor books, Shabby Chic Interiors by Rachel Ashwell. To finish it off, I threw in a few contemporary elements like the desk lamp and mini crystal chandelier.

Bed: I'm obsessed with light, bright bedding, accompanied by some serious pillow action. While I needed to keep the duvet cover I bought freshman year of college (mom's rule!), I was able to spice it up with a pile of fun textured pillows. Behind the bed, I hung some DIY art. All my favorite magazine pages are on one canvas, just to ensure I think, eat, and dream about design 24/7.

Rugs: One trend I've been seeing more of lately is the layering of rugs. Since the floor is cold (and ugly!) tile, I needed to cover them up.  First I laid down the neutral chenille jute rug, then threw the purple and black shag rug over it at an angle. I think it adds great texture and dimension to the room and visually creates a separate office area.

Closet: Yes, I had to purchase a closet for my room! I'm living in the old dining room of the house, so it lacks a place for clothes. Big problem for this California girl (: My goal for my room was to fill it with pieces of personality and character, therefore, I didn't want to purchase anything from a "normal" store like Target, IKEA, or the like.  My only exception was my closet. Can you guess where it's from? IKEA! It's so shabby chic for them, I almost had a heart attack.  After replacing the standard knobs for some Anthro ones, I'm loving the look.  I don't even think you can tell it's from IKEA!

Bookshelf: The bookshelf has been in my family for years. My great grandma passed it down to my brother and I, and when I moved to college, I snagged it.  A little white paint and some styling with school books, a lantern, and mercury glass owl completes the family antique.
